AODB Integration & Extended Broker
An integration platform that links an airport's operational database to its flight display, baggage, air traffic and messaging systems in real time.
Project overview
An airport runs on many separate systems: flight information displays, baggage handling, air traffic management and aeronautical messaging among them. The Airport Operational Database (AODB) holds the flight data they all depend on.
This project connected the building management system (IBMS) to the AODB and pushed flight updates to every other subsystem the moment they changed, with a control panel to monitor and manage it all.

Workflow
We wrote the integration services in Java with Hibernate, on MySQL. The Extended Broker's Active Flight Distribution Service is event driven: when flight data changes in the AODB it sends the update straight to FIDS, BHS, ATM, AMHS and EBAFDS, with guaranteed delivery, error handling and retries.
The control panel is built in PHP with CodeIgniter and jQuery. It shows system health and the status of each service, next-day (D+1) flights, ATM flight plans and queue subscriptions, and lets admins configure interfaces, search logs collected by CRON jobs, and manage users and their permissions.
