Pakistan Food Security Information System
A national food security platform that tracks crops, stocks and commodity prices across more than 111 districts of Pakistan.
Project overview
PFSIS gives government agencies, policymakers and researchers one reliable source for Pakistan's food security data: commodity prices, stock levels, crop estimates, production and land use, reaching back more than 15 years.
It needed a public side, where anyone can view graphs and download reports and datasets, and a secure side where authorised staff enter data and work with deeper analysis, covering every province and more than 111 districts.

Workflow
We built it with Next.js, Node.js and MongoDB, with Apache Superset for analytics and Highcharts for visualisation, deployed in Docker containers on cloud infrastructure. Sign-in uses JWT with role-based access, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
The public portal carries a weekly price watch fed by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, key crop indicators, land use and irrigation figures, and more than 40 chart types including district maps. Behind it, staff manage supply chain cycles from sowing to distribution, build data entry forms without a developer, get alerts on price and stock changes, and set permissions down to individual form fields.
